The perhaps toughest test of patience in World of Warcraft has now been achieved. A player has reached level 60 – and that naked. He has survived the journey only with his fists.
World of Warcraft Classic is not a difficult game. The last few have realized that. However, this changes drastically when one tries to play the game in “Hardcore” mode, where each character has only one life and becomes unplayable afterward.
But for some, even that is not enough challenge. A warrior apparently wanted the maximum dose of pain and has now achieved the incredible: He reached level 60 without outside help. Without weapons. Naked.
Thus, “Onepunchwarr” has become a living legend for many WoW fans.
What were the rules? The rules for this special challenge were as follows:
- No armor may be worn, including jewelry or rings.
- No weapon may be used. Only unarmed attacks, that is, fist fighting, are allowed.
- All content must be played without a group.
- All items must be self-obtained – that is, crafted or farmed.
- Trading with other players is forbidden.
If you look at the times the warrior spent on each level, you can already glimpse how monotonous it must have been. Between each level up are 10 or more hours during which Onepunchwarr relentlessly defeated the same enemies – and always only one at a time, because two of them could quickly lead to a death and thus to the failure of the challenge.
In his latest video, the player explains the difficulties he encountered along the way and where he farmed and grinded:
He found it particularly exhausting to maintain concentration. Because after farming in the same area for 4 or 5 hours and being exposed to complete monotony, mistakes simply happen. Small mistakes can still be corrected, but any larger mispull could be the last.
Other players, who intentionally wanted to disturb him by tagging the mobs – that is, quickly attacking the enemies before Onepunchwarr could land an attack – increasingly became annoying. Especially with tough “Named” enemies, this often ruined several minutes of planning.
How long did it all take? In total, leveling took a full 15 days and 3 hours of gameplay over 9 months. While some levels were completed within a few hours, later levels could take 10 or 15 hours. Considering that he often grinded 3 levels in the same place, it should be clear that Onepunchwarr never wants to see certain enemies again in his life.
The community celebrates its hero: In the WoW Classic community, Onepunchwarr is already a small hero. He receives much praise for having pursued this to the end. Although there are some skeptical comments about whether this can really be fun, the overwhelming majority is positive. Here are some excerpts:
- “Holy Hell, every mob is green and still reduces you to 20% HP, playing like this must be extremely exhausting.” – Wisniaksiadz
- “I respect the achievement, but that must have been incredibly boring.” – G00SFRABA
- “Now that you’ve done that, how will you handle your newfound free time? Do you watch paint dry? As far as I know, it should also be very captivating to count all the threads of your clothing.” – Bio-Grad
Even before Onepunchwarr, some players in World of Warcraft became living legends. Also known is the Pandaren who is still neutral today and yet reached the maximum level. He has never left the starting island of the Pandaren and levels there by farming herbs and ores: Doubleagent.
