The Baller League is 4 matchdays old, and especially one president has not only made highlights on the field with his team. We look at the highlights from HandOfBlood aka President Knabe and his Eintracht Spandau.
What is the Baller League? The Baller League is a small field soccer league founded by the German soccer world champions Mats Hummels and Lukas Podolski. Every Monday evening, 12 teams, consisting of amateurs and (former) professional players, compete against each other. The teams are coached by partly famous coaches such as Bundesliga pro Christoph Kramer (Borussia Mönchengladbach) or social media legend Hans Sarpei (formerly Wolfsburg, Leverkusen, and Schalke).
Especially the team from Eintracht Spandau has so far created real eye-catchers on and off the field. This team is, as it should be, coached by Spandau veteran HandOfBlood, who truly flourishes in his role as President Knabe.
Unbeatable on and off the field: President Knabe delivers
This is how Eintracht Spandau dominates the Baller League: From a purely sporting perspective, Spandau leads the table under coach Hans Sarpei after 4 matchdays with 8 points. Even if they couldn’t get beyond a draw against Jens “Knossi“ Knossalla’s Hollywood United in the last matchday, they still greet from the top of the table.
And also, or especially, off the field, Eintracht Spandau can always be relied upon to provide new conversation starters. One could wryly think that the president would do everything to create maximum confusion among his opponents.
Cologne Carnival, Mascot Mutiny, Mayor Beer Shower
In the following, we have gathered all the highlights delivered so far surrounding the Spandau team for you. You shouldn’t take the following scenes too seriously. HandOfBlood is known and loved by his fans for his staged stories. It should be said: President Knabe would fit perfectly with Hollywood United due to his performances.
Carnival parade before the first game:
This is how the first appearance of the Spandauer went: It all started with the first entrance of the Eintracht from Spandau. In fitting tribute to the Cologne Carnival, President Knabe quickly organized a band that introduced the Berlin players appropriately to the Baller League.
In front marched alongside the president also the specially created tower mascot, which is probably inspired by the Juliustower in Spandau, which also adorns the club’s crest. The duo of president and mascot should then also cause the next stir off the field.
Mascot Mutiny brings President Knabe down:
What happened? During an interview with Spandauer kicker Aziz, one could hear in the background how the president and his mascot seemed to get into a confrontation. After a brief scuffle and a small shove from President Knabe, the tower took a swing back and knocked Knabe heavily to the ground. It even knocked his glasses off his nose.
“Fortunately for all parties involved,” Knabe was able to quickly get back on his feet. He then made serious accusations against his mascot and suspected a conspiracy. Completely beside himself, he scribbled into the microphone: “He attacked me. That’s Kontra K underneath or something.” (referring to rival Kontra K, who, with his team “Beton Berlin,” is also part of the Baller League, editor’s note.)
If no reconciliation with the mascot should come about, the president can at least rely on another prominent support from politics. At least for now.
Spandau Mayor gets a welcoming beer shower from President Knabe:
This is how the beer shower for the Spandau mayor came about: During President Knabe’s last public appearance at the Baller League on the third matchday, there was a liquid faux pas. To express the solidarity of the Berlin district, Spandau Mayor Frank Bewig (this is the real mayor of Spandau, editor’s note) did not miss the opportunity to support Eintracht with his presence.
Knabe and he eagerly followed the match between their club and the VFR Zimbos, the team of the EA-FC-24 streamers GamerBrother and Tisi Schubech. In the excitement over a play, Knabe spilled quite a bit of his beer cup over the outfit of his mayor.
The mayor took the beer shower very composed. He even let Knabe’s cleaning attempts, albeit with a somewhat forced smile, happen over him.
Cult around President Knabe not only audibly conquers the fan ranks
This is how the fans support their Eintracht: The Spandauer can also rely 100% on fans’ support. The traveling fans create a great atmosphere in the stands and are undoubtedly the loudest on the bleachers.
And visually, the supporters of the Spandau club are increasingly noticeable:
On the last matchday, which took place on Rose Monday, fans appropriately dressed up as President Knabe doubles. The Knabe Army made an entrance into the hall that was no less impressive than the performance we were able to admire on the first matchday (see above).
It remains exciting what ideas the Spandauer under President Knabe still have. However, we are almost sure that there will be much more to come.
