In Baldur’s Gate 3 you can unleash your creativity to get even more out of your builds. MeinMMO author Fabienne Kissel introduces a powerful torch build today that can deal a lot of damage.
With a multiclass build, you can transform a simple torch into the ultimate killer weapon to annoy your enemies. This unique build combines the classes Druid, Paladin, and Fighter to fully utilize the potential of this unusual weapon.
The build comes from the YouTuber cRPG Bro, who has already been celebrated by the community for other fun builds. For example, for his legendary salami build, with which you can beat your opponents with salamis.
Unique Torch Build – YouTuber cRPG Bro shows the way to maximum damage
What kind of build is this? Normally, a torch deals 1d4 bludgeoning damage and 1d4 fire damage (when lit), but with this build, you can stack and inflict mighty elemental damage with a torch.
cRPG Bro emphasizes that the damage output of the torch is comparable to that of a longsword. Along with the Smite from the Paladin, you can achieve over 90 damage per Smite – which is quite a lot. This allows you to one-shot many enemies. This build is said to be suitable even for the hardest difficulty, the Honour mode.

How to build the build:
To maximize damage with the torch, synergy with Charisma and starting as a Paladin is crucial. Charisma is chosen as the spellcasting ability to scale attacks and damage rolls with the torch. Starting as a Paladin allows for quicker access to Smite and proficiency in heavy armor. Additionally, it also utilizes the Illithid powers.
Attribute distribution: Your main attribute in this build will be Charisma to increase your damage. You can distribute the points as CRPG Bro suggests:
- Strength: 8
- Dexterity: 16
- Constitution: 14
- Intelligence: 8
- Wisdom: 10
- Charisma: 17
How you can level up:
- Level 1: Paladin (Oath of Vengeance)
- Level 2: Paladin, Fighting Style: Duelling or Defense
- Level 3: Druid – here the Shillelagh cantrip is important to increase the damage of the torch.
- Level 4: Back to Druid. Choose the subclass: Circle of Spores, to have access to
Symbiotic Entity
to deal additional necrotic damage (1-6 damage) with your torches. - Level 5: Paladin
- Level 6: Paladin, Feat: Savage Attacker
- Level 7: Paladin
- Level 8: Fighter, Fighting Style: Two-Weapon Fighting or Defense
- Level 9: Fighter
- Level 10: Choose Fighter subclass: Champion
- Level 11: Fighter, Trait: Ability Improvement for more Charisma
- Level 12: Paladin for
Aura of Protection

cRPG Bro also mentions in his video on YouTube that you can be flexible in leveling and in choosing your fighting style, depending on what you prefer.
Here you can take a closer look at this build to get the most out of the torches:
Who is it worth it for? Overall, he shows in this fun build what one can get out of a simple torch. He buffs the torch with Magical Weapon
, Elemental Weapon
, Divine Favor
, and certain pieces of armor that he shows in the video, up to almost infinity, to achieve maximum damage.
However, he probably has to rest quite often because he frequently needs to expend his spell slots to increase the damage of the torch to this extent. It can therefore also become quite tedious to always have to prepare and buff to deal damage.
However, if you are in the mood for a fun build, this might be the right choice for you. For those who want to focus on classic multiclass builds, we can recommend these here: Baldur’s Gate 3: The best multiclass builds and what makes them so good
