Baldur’s Gate 3 starts on PS5: Users immediately encountered 2 problems, but there are solutions

The role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3 has taken Steam by storm last month, now it is available for owners of the Collector’s Edition and the “Digital Deluxe” Edition on PS5 in Early Access. Players with standard editions will have to wait until the release on September 6th. However, there are early issues with graphics and sound. Other players have already found solutions.

What problems with the graphics are there?

• Only a short time after the PS5 launch of Baldur’s Gate 3 for owners of the Deluxe Editions , the first users appeared on Twitter complaining about problems with graphics and sound.
• Twitter user FSoeiro showed a completely distorted image of the intro screen on September 2nd, where everything was only black and white (via twitter). Other users also reported difficulties.
• But the problem was quickly resolved.

HDR settings can solve graphics problems

What was the solution? As one user explains, the graphics problem can be solved by going into the HDR settings of the PS5 and selecting the 3rd option in the “Black” setting. This seems to resolve the issue.

Another user says to lower the black setting on page 3 all the way down and then increase it by one.

Others recommend turning off HDR altogether.

What other questions do users have? One question is whether you can only play Act 1 and if progress will be lost upon release on September 6th?

Here Larian responds: No, from now on you can enjoy the whole game with the PS5 Early Access – there will be no resets (via twitter).

Additionally, some users complain about problems with sound. The recommendation is to change the setting to Dolby or DTS (via reddit.com). This adjustment is made in the audio menu of the PS5 and not in the settings of Baldur’s Gate.

How does Baldur’s Gate 3 play on the PS5? According to reports from the US site Kotaku, you can comfortably play Baldur’s Gate 3 from the couch. However, it is difficult to perform fine-tuning, such as spotting and selecting items on the ground.

Details of some NPCs are reduced compared to the PC version, but the game runs smoothly at a solid 60 FPS in performance mode. Kotaku also notes sound issues.
