Actually, Baldur’s Gate 3 was supposed to release the new Patch 7 in the Closed Beta, but there is a problem. Nevertheless, the patch sounds very promising.
When will Patch 7 be released? The release for Patch 7 in the Closed Beta was actually set for July 22, but it is now being postponed again. Larian is talking about a release later this week.
The reason: As the developers announced, the patch in its current state has caused passive dice rolls to be simply disabled. Therefore, they need to figure out why that is the case. Once that is corrected, nothing should stand in the way of a release.
Important: The patch will initially only be available in the Closed Beta on Steam, but players can still sign up for it. For all other players, the full patch will only be released in September.
But that is definitely something to look forward to, as Larian has already presented a number of changes that should be exciting.
What are the Highlights of Patch 7 for Baldur’s Gate 3?
What’s included in the patch: Overall, the developers announce that “over 1,000 fixes and improvements” will be included in Patch 7. This includes small but also some major changes and innovations.
The highlights: The most exciting changes are as follows:
- You were a friendly hero group that only did good in your first run, and you want to explore your dark side in the next run? Then it’s best to wait for the patch because new “evil endings” are coming. These will be new, longer cinematics at the end of the game that you will only get if you have made truly evil decisions. So there will also be something new for story fans who found the evil scenes too short so far.
- Good news for everyone who wants to play locally together in the next run: The split-screen gameplay will be changed. The two screens will now be merged when you play close together. This will give you a much better overview. If you separate further from each other, the screens will split as well. Additionally, Larian promises further improvements and “polishing” of the split-screen mode.
- A new in-house mod manager will be introduced so that you have a better overview of your mods and can install them directly. Anyone who wants to try this will have an easier way to do so with the patch.
- You have never dared to try the Honour Mode but would like to experience how it feels in the next run? Then adjust the rules: When you create your own game mode, you can now also use Honour Mode rules for it. This means you can incorporate the difficult battles from it into your game but can spare the permanent end on failure.
What else is in the patch? Plenty, because even the small preview that Larian has published so far includes things like:
- New legendary actions in Honour Mode.
- User interface adjustments.
- A lot of bug fixes related to graphics or gameplay.
- New animations in the Camp, for example for Astarion, Minsc, Karlach.
- Adjustments to certain factions in the finale that can support you.
- Adjustments in some dialogues of the companions.
- Performance improvements.
You can find the entire list of changes announced so far on Steam. The full list of patch notes will then be released when the patch is out.
So this might not be it yet, as Patch 7 is not expected to be the final update for Baldur’s Gate 3. Accordingly, players can look forward to additional features, as things like crossplay or other improvements are still pending in the future. And for those who still can’t get enough: The developers have now tackled their next project, which will not be a new installment of Baldur’s Gate.
