Baldur’s Gate 3 Shadowcurse: How to survive the Shadow Curse in Act 2

Baldur’s Gate 3 Shadowcurse: How to survive the Shadow Curse in Act 2

Baldur’s Gate 3 threatens you later on with some dangers. Here you will find out how to defeat the Shadow Curse in Act 2.

Warning Spoiler: We are dealing here with circumstances after Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3.

After Act 1 you will quickly encounter a problem: The Shadow Curse. A curse that constantly deals damage to you if you do not outsmart it.

Once again the obligatory spoiler warning! You have been warned. By the end of the first act, you will have already heard about the Shadow Curse in some dialogues. The curse constantly harms you if you have no protection against it. There are four ways you can keep the curse at bay.

[Our author Maximilian Schütz usually writes about Mein-MMO and GameStar PCs. However, since he has struggled for ages with the Shadow Curse, he offered to write a little guide for you. Thanks Maxi! If Baldur’s Gate 3 lags or just doesn’t look good, then check out Maxi’s article: here is the solution
  1. A simple torch. Yes, a burning torch helps you resist the Shadow Curse up to a certain point, then, however, it loses its effect. It is advisable to give several characters a torch to broaden the protective radius. You can buy torches at almost any merchant.
  2. Blessing of Selûne: Should you enter the shadow-cursed area from the direction of the Grymschmiede/Grymforge, you will soon reach a camp. Without giving too much away: in this camp you can find allies, among them a priestess of Selûne. If you ask her, she will bless you, and the problem with the torch’s radius is solved, but unfortunately, the blessing also loses its effect in some areas and can no longer help.
  3. Moon lantern: Already in the first act, you hear again and again about the moon lantern that is supposed to protect you from the curse. But funnily enough, you only receive this after you have already ventured into the shadow-cursed land. If you come from the direction of the mountain pass, you will soon find a disgusting boss named Kar’niss. He carries a moon lantern with him, but he does not willingly give it away. The moon lantern protects you everywhere.
  4. Spider Lyre: If you decide to be evil in Act 1 and recruit the Drow Minthara, you will receive a Spider Lyre from the Paladin. With it, you can go to the camp of the Absolute in Act 2 and play it. A dryad will then appear to guide you through the fog. And don’t worry, you don’t need to be able to play the lyre; one attempt is enough.
  5. Blessing of the Pixie: The probably most elegant and best solution is to free the pixie trapped in the moon lantern and ask for help. After a short dialogue, she will bless you as thanks for your rescue. The blessing of the pixie protects you everywhere from the damage of the curse and has no radius. WARNING: Sometimes you can lose the blessing. For that, the pixie gives you a bell that you should not sell to call her again if you need the blessing again.
