The Honour Mode
in Baldur’s Gate 3 presents players with the ultimate challenge. One player was so afraid of a boss from Act 1 that he prepared for a long time and ultimately defeated it effortlessly.
What is the deal with the hard mode? In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Honour Mode (English: Honour Mode), the hardest difficulty of all, poses the ultimate challenge for players. In Honour Mode, there is no rewinding, no chance to repeat clumsy rolls through Save Scumming
, or to revise decisions.

Once made, decisions are final, and mistakes can have devastating consequences. Every boss has an added special ability, called legendary actions, to make the fight even harder and the mode can do much more. If the group dies, the Honour Mode
is over – afterwards, however, one can switch to Tactician or allow the save file to be deleted.
In this merciless environment, a player took a risk in a fight against a feared boss in Act 1 – we are talking about the Vettel. He prepared for the fight for a long time.
Player returns only with Level 7 to the Vettel, defeats her in one go
How exactly did he prepare? Every step must be well thought out, and the smallest mistake can mean the end. In this context, Evoxrus_XV decided to prepare carefully because he had previously heard that the Vettel produces more clones and other players had warned him about this fight. He shares his story on reddit.
He decided to minimize risks by thoroughly exploring the entire starting area, completely clearing the Underdark, and leveling up to Level 7 before facing the Vettel. In comparison: In the second hardest mode Tactician
, one can kill the Vettel already at Level 3 or Level 4.
He even killed all in the Githyanki crib first and only then returned to her tea house.
This is how the battle went: When the decisive moment came and Aunt Ethel was revealed as the Vettel, the battle began. She became invisible, and Evoxrus_XV had Gale cast a fire spell (presumably fireball) at the spot where she stood invisibly.
After that, he cast the spell Tasha’s hideous laughter
. The spell causes a targeted creature to fall into fits of laughter. The affected creature is on the ground laughing and is unable to perform bonus actions, actions, or reactions for the duration of the laughter. The target can attempt to shake off the effect every time it takes damage.
On reddit, the player writes that he plays Astarion as a monk with the subclass Way of the Open Hand
. He stunned the Vettel with the monk’s strike Stunning Strike
and hit her again with a flurry of class actions from the monk, dealing a lot of damage.
With Lae’zel (Class: Fighter), he then struck her four more times. The player himself takes on the role of a Warlock and dealt the final blow with an Eldritch Blast

Through the skillful combination of attacks, the Vettel became incapacitated, and Evoxrus_XV was able to defeat her in a single move.
