Baldur's Gate 3: Player complains, the otherwise clingy Gale treats him like 'dirt' after the patch

The developers of Larian Studios are continuously striving to improve Baldur’s Gate 3. In the past, they have already released three major patches and several hotfixes to fix bugs and optimize the gameplay experience.

But Baldur’s Gate 3 players agree: Gale, the wizard from Waterdeep, has been treated unfairly in the latest patches. Not intentionally, but due to errors. In particular, the latest patch has apparently put Gale in a strange mood that does not sit well with a player.

What do the players say? The fans of Gale in Baldur’s Gate 3 are frustrated about the changes that came with the patches.

A player reports on the effects of the latest patch on Gale and claims that even with high approval, Gale treats the player disrespectfully. The player believes that Gale was already sidelined in the previous patches – especially due to patch 3.

This is reported by MidnightSheepling on reddit:

Even before the current patches, Gale was frowned upon in the community: Because he treated the player as if he had a romantic relationship with them, even though many players did not realize they were dating him. This was apparently due to a bug that made all characters in Baldur’s Gate 3 eager for romances with the player character.
With patch 1, the tissue cutscene (Mystra) was expanded with the option to give a response in which one imagines killing Gale or holding hands with him during a date – which the player appreciated. However, this patch also introduced the strange bug in act 3, where Gale mistakenly believes the player has accepted Raphael’s offer – even though they have not.
Patch 2 was supposed to fix the comment about Raphael, but it did not succeed.
Patch 3 brought a strange change to Gale. Even with high approval, he treats the player like trash, especially during a scene in act 2, where you look at the stars together. The patch still did not fix the problem with the Raphael comment and apparently caused Gale to repeat conversations about absorbing magical items.

What does he say in the scene? Gale asks the player to stay with him. But then says it would mean more if it came from someone he felt more connected to.

Gale says this despite the maximum affection value. Apparently a bug. Especially since Gale professes his love again the next day.

MidnightSheepling admits he is somewhat biased since Gale was his first romantic interest in Baldur’s Gate 3, and therefore he reacts particularly irritated to the development of Gale’s storyline.

Despite this emotional attachment to the character, it becomes increasingly difficult for the player to maintain their sympathy for Gale. This is due to the strange bugs and problems associated with Gale that have arisen since the latest patches.

But other players are also complaining on reddit about how Gale has changed now. Here too, players are disgusted by how Gale treats them during the star scene:

Jules agrees with devilbringing and explains: I experienced that yesterday in my second run after I captured him in the first run. My favorite part is that he says the next day how great it was to be in your company. I was really confused, lol.
