In Baldur’s Gate 3, love can sometimes be a problem. Especially Lae’zel tends to ruin everything – because she knows no inhibitions.
Whoever wants Lae’zel to become the love of their life in Baldur’s Gate 3 must win a duel against her. But that can backfire significantly. Because if you give Lae’zel the wrong weapons, you can abruptly end the hero’s journey. This is reported by DDDritte in the Subreddit of Baldur’s Gate 3 and reveals how his relationship with Lae’zel ended explosively and very spontaneously.
What happened to Lae’zel? As a Gith’yanki warrior, Lae’zel has a somewhat different concept of partnership and love than the other races in the world of Baldur’s Gate 3. If you want to charm her and then enter a relationship with her, she wants to fight. Because only if you can beat her in combat are you a suitable partner.
However, DDDritte made a critical mistake that would have serious consequences.
What was that mistake? The problem was that the player had some things in Lae’zel’s inventory that perhaps shouldn’t be there. Especially the rune powder vial, which can be obtained in Act 1, is extremely dangerous. The vial is considered the most dangerous explosive in the game and can wipe out the entire party in one turn. Many players save the vial for particularly tough boss fights.
But Lae’zel thought during the fight for love, “if we’re going to do this, let’s do it right” and proceeded to be particularly brutal in the duel.
You probably suspect it already: Lae’zel hurled the rune powder bomb at her future lover, treated herself to a potion of haste, and then used a scroll to unleash an ice storm.
The end of the story: Everything in the camp explodes, Lae’zel “wins” the fight and is, of course, very disappointed that her chosen one apparently does not possess the necessary combat power to handle her.
What could basically be an amusing situation, however, became a huge annoyance for DDDritte. Lae’zel not only left the group afterwards – the player also forgot to save recently, so several hours of progress with numerous battles were lost.
That Baldur’s Gate 3 can also be frustrating due to the many variables has been experienced by many players before. In fact, there are millions of buyers of Baldur’s Gate 3 who have never made it past the tutorial.
