An NPC in Baldur’s Gate 3 is not getting what he deserves. Fans are angry – because the popular Drow is still buggy.
Baldur’s Gate thrives on the great character stories of the companions and the convincing world full of choices. Some evil choices lead to possibilities that a ‘good’ character would never have. However, one consequence of these choices is disappointing. In the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, fans are now demanding ‘justice’ – because one companion is still buggy.

What is the problem? Even though Minthara is not one of the Origin characters from Baldur’s Gate 3, she is quite popular. She can join the group and is especially interesting for ‘evil’ characters. To make her join, it is necessary to make some dark decisions, especially in the first act.
This, in turn, leads to a number of ‘good’ characters not joining the heroes’ group or breaking contact. You forgo Wyll, Karlach, and also Halsin, and in exchange, you get Minthara.
However, Minthara is significantly less developed. In the launch version of the game, many of her dialogues were buggy and never triggered. Apparently, the romance with her did not make it into the final game.
Although the first major patch promises that Minthara is now ‘fixed’, many fans still report that the dialogues with her do not start correctly and the romance can never come to a conclusion.
What do the players demand? With ‘Freedom for Minthara’, they mainly demand that the dialogue options be unlocked. For many, it simply feels disillusioning to sacrifice three characters and numerous NPCs just to unlock Minthara, who, however, has hardly any story and only rarely participates in dialogues.
The hope is that Minthara will be ‘truly’ fixed in the next major patch.
For the future, many hope that Minthara will be further developed in a ‘Definitive Edition’. After all, there are many hints and voicelines in the game data that suggest a much more extensive and dramatic story with Minthara – even talk of a pregnancy is mentioned.
