Completing the Honour Mode in Baldur’s Gate 3 is the current challenge for many players. One of them successfully fought his way through for 90 hours. However, in Act 3, he ruined everything with the wrong fling.
What is the Honour Mode? If you face the Honour Mode in Baldur’s Gate 3, you are playing the game in its hardest form. You only have one save file, and if your party dies, the game is over. Loading or trying again is not possible here.
Accordingly, the mode is quite challenging and has already inspired many players to reach new heights.
What happened to the player? On reddit, Burner_6_6_6 writes about his Honour Mode run: He bravely persevered for 90 hours. He completed Act 1 and 2. However, his trip to the House of Hope in Act 3 threw a wrench in the works.
If you want to get an overview of the challenge yourself, you can read all about it in our guide:
In fact, Burner_6_6_6 solved all the puzzles and problems. But then he was told that he needed a key from an incubus to complete the quest. The player was not familiar with the scene involving Harleep, the aforementioned incubus. So, when the choice arose whether to fight Harleep or sleep with him, he chose sex.
But hardly had Burner_6_6_6 decided to give Harleep his soul, the game over screen popped up.
Why did this decision lead to the end? While you can flirt your way through the game almost without serious consequences for the plot of Baldur’s Gate 3, you need to be careful with Harleep:
If you engage in sex and willingly, or because you messed up your roll, give your soul to Harleep for Raphael, you are immediately dead. You cannot revive yourself afterward, and must load again. This, in turn, is not possible in Honour Mode.
It is therefore advisable to reserve this special decision for a run where not so much is at stake as in Honour Mode.
In fact, Burner_6_6_6 has also come to this conclusion. He ends his post with the following words: So I lost my 90-hour Honour Mode run because I wanted to see the scene. Was it worth it? No.
Indeed, there are plenty of things in the world of Baldur’s Gate 3 that threaten life and civilization. The community is currently discussing that the world should have long since perished and why that is (not) the case yet.
