Baldur’s Gate 3: Release for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S
When does Baldur’s Gate 3 come to PS5? Baldur’s Gate 3 celebrated its release on Steam and PC on August 3rd. However, the PS5 version of the game still needs to wait, as you can only play it starting September 6th. Pre-orderers can start on September 2nd at 6 PM German time.
However, the release for the Xbox looks quite different. You will have to wait.
When does Baldur’s Gate 3 come to Xbox? The developers behind Baldur’s Gate 3 will also bring the game to Xbox in 2023, but only at a later date. In a tweet from Cromwelp, the Director of Publishing at Larian Studios, the problem isn’t a deal prohibiting publishing on other platforms. It is about the Xbox itself, which has an issue with the split-screen mode (via twitter.com)
According to the Director, a team is already working on this problem and is hard at work to get it under control. However, the developers also cannot temporarily remove the system for the Xbox because they are required to keep all versions of the game the same across all consoles.
Xbox has gotten involved and is now helping Larian Studios with the implementation for the Xbox. However, there is a catch: the Xbox Series S will have to do without split-screen for now. This will be added after the release. On the Series X, everything remains as usual without restrictions.
