Larian Studios have announced September 30 as the start of the Early Access phase of the new RPG Baldur’s Gate 3 (PC, Stadia). Then you can experience the adventure even in multiplayer.
When does it start? Swen Vincke from Larian Studios explained that the date in August could not be met. However, Baldur’s Gate 3 is now set to enter Early Access on September 30. It will be available on PC via Steam and Google Stadia.
However, Swen Vincke added a “starred” note. If the optimization of the game does not progress as hoped by that date, there may be a further slight delay.
A lot of content in the EA phase
What about multiplayer? Basically, BG3 is a single-player RPG. However, you have the option to play cooperatively with up to four players. Each player takes on the role of a hero. Gameplay can be online or in LAN.
The developers even plan to introduce a splitscreen mode later. However, this will not be available at the start of Early Access.

What exactly does this Early Access phase offer? A large part of the first act of the story can be played. This is said to be very extensive. According to Larian Studios, the main quest of the first act alone takes about 15 to 20 hours.
You can also expect the following content:
- 80 battles
- 45,980 lines of dialogue
- 596 characters
- 146 spells and abilities
Additionally, you can create your hero from these races:
- Human
- Dwarf
- Elf
- Half-Elf
- Halfling
- Tiefling
- Drow
- Githyanki
Moreover, you can choose from these classes:
- Fighter
- Wizard
- Rogue
- Ranger
- Cleric
- Warlock
If you don’t want to create your own hero, it is possible to choose one of the pre-made characters. These have their own personalities, backstories, and motivations. The following will be available in the Early Access phase:
- Astarion: An elven rogue and vampire
- Gale: A human wizard
- Lae’zel: The warrior belongs to the Githyanki people
- Shadowheart: A half-elven cleric
- Wyl: A human warlock
What is Baldur’s Gate 3 about? The RPG takes place about 100 years after the events of Baldur’s Gate 2. Your character has been captured by mind flayers, who have implanted a kind of tadpole into your brain. This is supposed to gradually transform you into a mind flayer as well.
However, dragons attack the flying ship you are on. In the heat of the battle, you can escape with other prisoners. Since the implanted creature grants you supernatural powers, you and your companions must decide whether to remove it. During your adventures that take you to the city of Baldur’s Gate, an even greater danger emerges for you and the entire land.
You play Baldur’s Gate 3 from an isometric perspective. The battles are turn-based. BG 3 aims to present you with many decisions that will have both minor and major impacts on the story. The game system is based on the 5th edition of the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop RPG.
