The long-awaited and final content update patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is finally here. With nearly 3 gigabytes, you will have to load quite a bit, but it’s worth it. Just in time for the release, Larian has published the patch notes and included an unannounced change.
Here are the highlights of patch 8:
- The biggest new feature of patch 8 is the 12 new subclasses, one for each base class in the game.
- In addition, you can look forward to an integrated photo mode, crossplay, and split-screen for Xbox.

This is the surprise: Right at the top of the official patch notes, Larian has added an entry about trading cards on Steam. Although this is just a small and for many an insignificant feature, a part of the PC community has been asking for it for years.
Trading cards have no actual use, except to be exactly that: collectible cards. However, because Baldur’s Gate 3 has so many enthusiastic fans, some simply want to have a few special items from the game.
The trading cards are usually worth only a few cents on the Steam marketplace, but particularly rare or certain versions can become quite expensive. Where the market price for the Baldur’s Gate 3 cards will settle remains to be seen.

In addition to the highlights mentioned, the majority of patch 8 consists of bug fixes, and many of them. From gameplay bugs to audio and visual bugs to interface and scripting errors, there are hundreds of bug fixes.
Larian has also made adjustments to the mods and the in-house mod toolkit. However, this also means that many or even most mods will likely not work in the first few days.
