You were an excellent friend, Scruffy – and that comes from a cat lover.
- While Karlach simply says:
I miss my dog.
- Halsin expresses his thoughts with compassion:
I hope you are happy wherever you are now.
- Shadowheart regrets not having played enough fetch with him:
I didn’t do that often enough when I had the chance.
- Wyll misses Scruffy:
Damn. I miss the furry guy.
- Minsc speaks to his hamster:
I know he’s gone, Boo, but… maybe this is a way to keep him alive, right?
- Lae’zel emphasizes:

But not all companions are filled only with grief. Some of them add a touch of humor to possibly cope with the emotional burden:
- For example, Minthara explains with a smirk:
Everyone assumes I killed the dog. I liked the dog.
- Astarion points out with mischievous words:
Does it now have a sad squeak? Is that even possible?
- Also Astarion:
I can’t believe the dumb dog isn’t here to fetch the dumb ball.
- Minthara has another saying in store:
Lazarus! Be a good skeleton and fetch the ball.
