The new MMORPG Lost Ark is coming out next week and you can still pre-order one of the Founder’s Packs to get in early and receive exclusive content. However, you should be careful about when you redeem these bonuses.
What are the Founder’s Packs? Although Lost Ark will be completely free to play, there are four different Founder’s Packs for the new MMORPG. These grant you some in-game advantages as well as cosmetic items.
A head start is also included in the packs, allowing you to enter the game three days earlier than Free2Play players. You can find an overview of all the contents of the packs in our guide to the Founder’s Packs.
Why do you need to be careful? If you have purchased one of these packs, you can claim your goodies at release. To do this, you just need to activate the pack, and all that stuff finally belongs to you.
However, as soon as you activate your bonuses, they will be bound to the server you are currently logged into. This is not optimal at the beginning, as friends or streamers might suddenly be playing on a different server, and you might want to switch.
If you decide to start over on another server, you cannot bring any of your bonuses with you. This can be quite painful with packs worth up to €100.
You can still purchase the Founder’s Packs until the release on February 11th and thus buy them again for a different server, but you would be spending money that doesn’t need to be spent. So activate your pack only when you are sure you want to stay on that server.
Where does the information come from? In a post in the official forum, community manager Roxx confirmed how the Founder’s Packs work. It’s also clarified again whether the platinum avatars are automatically bound to the first class you choose.
Roxx explains that this is not the case, and the avatars are sent to the expedition chest and then bound to the first character that equips them. However, this expedition chest is bound to the server.
She also confirms again that the avatars from the gold and platinum packs can only be redeemed for the 15 classes that exist in the game at the time of release.
How can you retrieve the bonuses? If you have pre-ordered one of the packs, the head start automatically activates, and you can start directly on the 8th. In the game, you will receive a gift notification about your items.
When you open it, you can claim and retrieve the items. However, as soon as you do that, they remain bound to the server on which you opened them.
If you are not entirely sure about your choice of server, just leave the items in your gift inbox.
The community is annoyed with the servers
What’s the mood like? A reddit thread on the topic has already gathered 315 upvotes on the first day and currently lists 130 comments on the topic. Many of them are questions, but some players also express their annoyance with the game’s server structure.
People are puzzled as to why Amazon is still using such a strictly separated server method and not making it possible to handle such things across servers. The debate about reserving names resurfaces here as well.
Amazon has now confirmed that they use a different server structure than the other publishers of Lost Ark, which is why names are only reserved in our version, but not in Korea or Russia.
What do the fans say? Along with the questions, many users express their annoyance with the restrictions imposed by Amazon.

- My2copper also doesn’t understand: “This is just crazy. How can such ridiculous restrictions even occur? […] Amazon is one of the richest companies in the world, and they didn’t even have to develop the game themselves and still make so many mistakes.”
- djcetra sees the problem more in America: “This will be a disaster for the American servers. People will switch servers because they have West America and East America separated. This will not be good in the long run.”
