The developers of Call of Duty: Warzone are constantly tinkering with the game, constantly changing something. It seems that the engine is starting to get fed up, and the construct of program codes and algorithms is beginning to fight back – in the form of a killer door that is currently racking up a lot of kills in Warzone.
Update June 23 – An update has fixed the killer door in the Salt Mine.
What’s going on? Season 4 arrived last week in Call of Duty: Warzone and with the new season, there were a bunch of changes. Motorcycles, a new fast travel system, new locations – the developers maintain a high pace, but Warzone itself seems to disagree with that.
Because the game is fighting back. In the form of an ugly death door. Players report a door at the location “Salt Mine” that knocks you out if you get too close to the handle. MeinMMO shows you clips of the unfriendly door and where you can find the “frame of death”.
Killer door cleans up – Don’t get too close
What does it look like? There are now some videos of the nasty killer door on Twitter. Is it a sniper, is it a precision airstrike? No … it’s the killer door:
You can imagine how much confusion the door must have caused over the weekend. “Salt Mine” is a good place to land, as there are many houses with familiar structures, spacious areas for the first skirmishes in the match, and good loot for multiple teams.
Often, you are fully focused on quickly gathering weapons and gear to not be an easy target for the first enemies. A perfect place for a killer door that calmly plays the waiting game and knows that sooner or later, an unsuspecting victim will run into the trap.
Where is the nasty door? MeinMMO ventured onto the dangerous battlefields of Verdansk to find the nasty door and confront it.
The killer door is located in a house with a blue roof that roughly has the shape of a “Z,” right in the “Salt Mine.” From the north, you can enter the main room of the house, and the door is in the southeastern direction inside the house.
Most reports about the death door are related to the house in “Salt Mine.” However, there are also two houses with the same structure and blue roof in the “Lumber” area. The house in the center of Lumber also has the killer door; the house in the east near the map boundary has safe doors.
What do players say about the killer door? Looking at the reactions, there are basically 3 camps:
- People who complain that there are more and more bugs in the game
- Players who have experienced this as well
- Commentators who find it hilarious
Although there are some complainers who are upset about the latest bug, the bug is generally received “well”:
- @vertex_04 on Twitter: “This door probably has more kills now than I do.”
- unidentifiable7 lets unsuspecting teammates run into the trap on reddit (via reddit)
- @Moe23110 on Twitter: “LOL this happened to me yesterday too”
Call of Duty is thus richer for a curious glitch. Even in Modern Warfare, there were everyday objects that didn’t want to put up with the ongoing adjustments to their environment. Back then it was a killer chair that probably aimed for world domination. With its collected nuke killstreaks, the rebellious seating object could have succeeded – but the developers fixed and calmed the chair in time.
