The mangaka of Attack on Titan, Hajime Isayama, has now completed the story surrounding the Titans. After the manga, the anime also ended last year. But that doesn’t mean that the creator is already resting. A project has been announced that Isayama is working on after Attack on Titan together with the voice actor of Eren Yeager (Yuki Kaji).
What kind of project is it? Isayama and Kaji are working on a manga called Soyogi Fractal. The spin-off manga is supposed to include only one issue and celebrates Kaji’s 20th anniversary as a voice actor, as reported by Oricon News.
The X user AttackonFans shows what the protagonist of the new manga will look like:
So far, the following things are known about the manga:
- Soyogi is the eponymous protagonist. He is a character created by Kaji and illustrated by Mai Yoneyama.
- The character is meant to represent the artificial intelligence that is used to reproduce Kaji’s voice. This allows new songs to be sung using Kaji’s voice.
- Isayama will only be responsible for the story of the manga. Who will take over the drawings is not known yet. The mangaka thinks it is “great” that he can come up with complicated compositions that someone else then has to draw.
- The story will therefore have nothing to do with the sword-swinging Titan hunters from Attack on Titan.
The manga is set to be released in summer 2024. A precise date is still pending. The special one-shot is to be published either in the “Weekly Shonen” magazine or in the “Bessatsu Shonen” magazine. Weekly Shonen is known for publishing famous shonen mangas like One Piece, Naruto, or even Attack on Titan.

This is how the chances for a continuation of Attack on Titan stand
And what about Attack on Titan? Since the one-shot has nothing to do with the Titan universe, the question remains how a sequel to the hit anime looks. Isayama has already planned a new chapter of his manga, which is set to be released on April 30, 2024.
So far, not much is known about the chapter. A picture is circulating on reddit that is supposed to show the cover of Volume 35. Based on the picture, we can infer how the story will continue.
Without giving away too much: The volume will probably recount the experiences after the controversial finale of Attack on Titan. However, the picture has not yet been officially revealed, so we should regard the cover with caution.
However, Isayama already made it clear in an interview with Radio France that there would be no continuation to Attack on Titan. It would be a complete story, which is why the work is already complete. The new volume will presumably only show the impressions from life after the finale and not hint at any new plot strands.
MeinMMO author Dariusz Müller also couldn’t get away from the anime: I used to sneer at animes for years, but now I can’t get away from one series
