Place 4: Meereen
Meereen is the only location on this list that is not in Westeros but rather on the continent of Essos. The large city is located in the north of Slaver’s Bay and is ruled from the large pyramids for which Meereen is known.
In the series, Meereen plays a significant role over several seasons. In season 4, Daenerys conquers the city on her quest for liberation to free the slaves. She also stays there for a while to rule. However, this proves to be quite difficult, as the “Sons of the Harpy” offer fierce resistance against the new leadership. Initially, they only operate from underground, but the conflict escalates further. It’s no wonder that the number of casualties skyrockets before Daenerys leaves the city in season 6.
