At “The International” in Dota 2, Russian adult film actress Eva Elfie was present and spoke with the professionals. With a rather cheeky question, she elicited some embarrassed, some funny answers and awkward moments.
What kind of event is this?
- The International is the esports tournament with the largest prize pools worldwide (via esportsearnings.com). The prize pool is well funded, extending to up to 33 million US dollars and more.
- The prize money partially comes from money that the community contributes via specific in-game bundles. Teams from all over the world then compete for the money and the world championship.
- In 2022, “T11” took place, the 11th tournament of the league. Between matches, the adult film actress Eva Elfie chatted with the players.
What was the question? Eva Elfie walked around with a microphone and camera and simply asked players from various teams what they would prefer: Dota 2 or sex? Apparently, the question was meant more as a joke, but it led to some awkward moments.
One pro responded with, “What the hell? Sure, I just had the other one.” Another seemed extremely embarrassed and responded rather reluctantly. However, the pros sometimes gave quite confident answers like, “I usually have no problems with sex, so Dota 2,” or simply: “Both.”
Some take it with humor, sitting on the sofa with their teammate and joking: “Depends on who it is. With him here? Sex. Otherwise, definitely Dota 2.”
The channel Dota 2 Rampage Monster has compiled some of the answers:
“Everyone chooses Dota 2, and I don’t understand why”
The esports journalist Jake Lucky spoke in a short interview with the interviewer herself (via Twitter). There, the actress, who earns money through sex, explains that almost all respondents answered with Dota 2.
However, she cannot understand why: “You would really play Dota 2 and not choose sex?” Some users on Twitter agree, jokingly writing: “Sex is temporary, gaming is eternal.”
The interview with Eva Elfie does remind somewhat of the poorly chosen provocation by RTL some years ago when gamers were asked something similar at Gamescom, but it seems to have been more fun for everyone involved. At least hardly any of the pros reacted negatively or too shyly.
However, the esports players have enough reason to prefer their game. At T11, there was a prize pool of nearly 19 million euros, which the team Tundra secured. The champions were also interviewed after the games and had some cheeky answers:
