Legendary items were both a blessing and a curse in WoW: Legion and often a topic of discussion. The constant companions and essential items will become ineffective with the next addon, Battle for Azeroth, starting at level 116.
Legendaries are, like artifact weapons, a key feature in WoW: Legion, but will lose much of their importance after Legion. Most players probably understood that we can’t hold onto the strongest items in the game forever.
In the latest build of the Alpha of Battle for Azeroth, a new property is now for the first time included in the description of the legendaries. The affixes that give the items their true strength are only active at level 115 and below.
Legendaries no longer have any effect, but they are still strong items
Thus, legendaries will at least lose their effectiveness over the course of the new addon – unlike the artifact weapons, which lose their special properties immediately. However, legendary items remain useful for the first levels in Battle for Azeroth.
They can still be worn as particularly strong items afterwards. Due to their high secondary attributes, they still surpass most new items until the end of the leveling phase.
They will have an item level of 265 after the planned “item squish.” Thus, they are just slightly below what you will be able to loot in the normal dungeons. As strong starter pieces, they are still useful.
Aman’thul’s Vision is (still) unaffected
It is different with the legendary trinket Aman’thul’s Vision. The description stating that the item will lose its effect is missing here. Its item level is also higher at 280 than that of the other legendary items.
However, the Vision loses part of its effect anyway if you are not in Antorus. Whether this is just missing information or whether it is indeed planned that way will likely become clearer in the next versions of the Alpha.
