Astellia is approaching its first closed beta in the West and is releasing more and more information about it. This time the focus is on the differences between the Asian and our game version.
What adjustments does Astellia have for the West? In recent weeks, we have already reported that Astellia will forgo Pay2Win in the West. The gender lock, which is very strong in Asia, is expected to be lifted for us.
In a new article, the developers also address what changes in gameplay and the combat system. The Asia MMORPG also wants to adapt to the West in this regard.
More dynamic combat system, fairer quests
What changes in the combat system? According to the developers, the combat system is to become more dynamic. Some rigid animations have been revised and classes adjusted.
Furthermore, the dodging maneuvers have been improved, which we compared with Guild Wars 2. You can now interrupt any actions of the character to dodge.
There will also be adjustments regarding the recovery of health and mana points. Here, however, the developers want to wait for player feedback.
What changes in the quests? In the current version of Astellia, monsters killed together are not counted for each member of a group. This is expected to change in the western version.
Also, the distribution of rewards will be adjusted for special enemies with their own names. Even if many players brought down such an enemy together, only one received the loot. A system that would meet with rejection in the West.
Localization in writing and sound
In which languages will Astellia be released? Astellia will be available in English, German, and French at launch. This is not only to apply to the written part.
The voice-over that accompanies the development and story of the characters should also be localized.
Information about Astellia: In Asia, there is a large in-game database with information that answers the most important questions about Astellia.
This database could not be transferred to the West. Instead, wikis are planned here, which players can also participate in.
Astellia will not have it easy in the West
How do Asia MMORPGs fare in the West? Asia MMORPGs usually generate a lot of anticipation among players. Some games can meet expectations, like Black Desert, while others quickly disappear.
- Recently, the game Bless Online, released in 2018, has not been doing well.
- The game is closing its servers in Japan in August, but is still running on Steam with us.
- Also, the 2014 released ArcheAge is currently struggling.
How good are the chances for Astellia? The developers of Astellia are planning many adjustments for us, forgoing strong interventions from the shop, and even adapting individual mechanics.
The hope for success for Astellia is there. What is impressive is how already the feedback from the western community is being addressed. A point where Bless Online particularly struggled.
Do you have any further questions about the adjustments in the West? We are happy to ask them to the developers!
