ASTA, a colorful online role-playing game from Korea, was permanently shut down in October 2016. But the end may not be so final, as the game is set to make a comeback on Steam in April!
ASTA: The War of Tears and Wind – often referred to as the “Korean World of Warcraft” – was permanently shut down by publisher Webzen on October 4, 2016 due to low player numbers. The servers for the Western version went offline, and players received refunds for their real money expenditures over the last 30 days. Game over – curtains down, monkey dead!
However, ASTA doesn’t seem to be as dead as it appears. The Korea MMO is making a comeback on April 26, 2017!
ASTA – Return on Steam
If you’ve bitterly missed the Asia MMO since its infamous end or regret never having played ASTA, mark April 26 on your calendar. On this day, you can play ASTA for free again via Steam under the new publisher Move Games.
On the official ASTA page on Steam, you can learn about the game’s features. ASTA will showcase stunning graphics thanks to CryEngine3, and the character system is expected to offer a variety of options, including a slider for eyebrows! Also included in ASTA: housing, two factions, PvR battles, martial arts fighting styles, and pets.
ASTA – Promo Actions for Loyal Players
Those who log in during the month following the release will receive a reward, including a fox pet and game resources. Fans who spread the word about ASTA on Facebook will also receive rewards for their efforts. If you want to register for ASTA, you can find the online role-playing game on Steam via the provided link.
This will lead ASTA to share the same fate as “ELOA – Elite Lord of the Alliance.” This was also released in the West under Webzen, was shortly thereafter discontinued, and later revived.
What do you think about the return of ASTA? Have you missed the game or is it rightfully gone? And what do you think about the chances of the relaunch? Let us know in the comments!
