Webzen wants to return to the roots of the genre with the upcoming MMORPG Asta and has now released an initial trailer for the game.
MMORPGs are continually evolving – but for many fans, often in a direction they do not like. According to many gamers, the genre is supposedly too oriented towards the mass market now. Everything has become too easy, and complexity is lacking. Webzen apparently wants to change this and promises a return to player experiences reminiscent of earlier times in the genre with the MMORPG Asta. This includes customizable attributes and skill trees.
There will be two factions made up of different races. Players will join one faction and create their heroes from the associated races and multiple classes. With this champion, players will explore a fantasy world influenced by Asian myths. A dungeon & raid finder for cooperative multiplayer, PvP battlegrounds, arenas, and guild wars, a divine spirit and gem system, a profound crafting system, and the CryEngine 3 are also expected to distinguish Asta.
The Asian World of Warcraft
Fans even refer to Asta as “the Asian version of World of Warcraft“, as the game is said to have great similarities to the Vanilla version of WoW. The new trailer gives a first glimpse of what to expect. Asta aims to appeal to both newcomers and veterans. There will be solo content as well as group content. Publisher Webzen also announces that it is now possible to register for the Closed Beta of the MMORPG via the official Asta website. However, when this will start has not yet been determined. So if you want to see if there is really something to the claim that Asta is the “Asian version of WoW”, then sign up for the Closed Beta and find out.
