Twitch allowed fans for a short time to gift 1,000 paid subscriptions all at once. Many streamers did not think it was a good idea, including Asmongold, who wants to ban viewers who gift such a “present” directly.
What’s the deal with the 1,000 subscriptions? On November 26, 2025, Twitch introduced a new cap for gift subs and temporarily allowed fans to gift 1,000 paid subscriptions at once. The package cost nearly 5,000 US dollars, providing a savings of nearly 1,000 dollars compared to the individual price.
Gift subs are a popular way for fans to support their favorite streamers. However, many content creators were not too excited about the new opportunity to earn a large amount of money at once.
One streamer even went a step further, threatening to permanently ban any viewer who gives them such a “gift.”
Although Asmongold made an impressive apology, he quickly fell back into old patterns.
Asmongold demands tax returns from fans
What does Asmongold have against money? Like many other streamers, he fears so-called chargebacks. If the generous fan has a change of heart – or does not have the financial means – they can request a refund. Smaller streamers are then left with the debt.
Asmongold believes that no one simply gifts 5,000 dollars without expecting something in return. Therefore, his drastic consequence is: “If you do that to me, you will be permanently banned, I’m telling you right now.”
Viewers could only avoid the ban if they send the streamer their “1040” from the previous year, which is a form in the US income tax return. Only if someone can show a seven-figure sum would the ban be lifted.
Asmongold also wants to ensure that fans have the necessary financial means.
The streamer had already called for viewers to be banned in early October, who gift absurd amounts after a fan killed a Korean influencer. “Think about what kind of people are willing to give a girl on the internet 50,000 dollars. Crazy. Stay safe and proactive,” Asmongold said.
Consequently, Asmongold is not very pleased that the friendly streamer Emiru received such a subscription gift in the short time the feature was available. You can see the corresponding stream clip on X.
The streamer Cr1TiKal recently announced that he no longer wants money from his viewers. He disabled all options for direct monetary donations and urged fans to donate to charity instead of subscribing: Streamer on Twitch worries about his community, takes special steps to protect them
