The new Monster Hunter Wilds has already been well received in beta. The well-known streamer Asmongold has also checked out the game. In his opinion, the game is going to be huge.
Why is Asmongold talking about it? Monster Hunter Wilds could be tried for free in a beta version last week. The game was received so well, that only 20 minutes after release, 360,000 players were playing. At peak times, even over 460,000 players were online on Steam simultaneously (via SteamDB).
The beta was also running on PS5 and Xbox at the same time, so it can be assumed that even more people were hunting simultaneously. One of them was the well-known streamer Asmongold, who showcased the beta of the monster-hunting game in a live stream.

Asmongold believes in massive success
What does Asmongold say about the game? After spending several hours with the beta of Monster Hunter Wilds, the streamer shares his interim assessment. He believes that something big is emerging with the game; not only will Wilds become the most successful Monster Hunter, but it will also be the biggest release Capcom has ever had.
“I think Monster Hunter Wilds will be the biggest success on Steam that Capcom has ever had. It will surpass Street Fighter, it will surpass Devil May Cry, it will surpass Dragon’s Dogma, it will surpass World, it will be absolutely insane,” says Asmongold in his stream (via YouTube)
Asmongold believes that Monster Hunter Wilds will bring the series into the mainstream by making the game accessible to a wide audience. Much like FromSoftware did with Elden Ring.
The player numbers in the beta support Asmongold’s statements. Although the beta only ran for a short time, more people went hunting for monsters than played the new Call of Duty on Steam (via SteamDB).
What does he think about the game itself? Asmongold likes the new Monster Hunter Wilds. He finds the new focus mode particularly useful, even though he hasn’t mastered it yet. This helps players control the camera in the game.
“I haven’t really mastered the focus mode yet, but I think it will be really good for new players who haven’t played any of the other games in the series. And I also think it will be good for everyone. This way, you can easily align your attacks correctly.”
He also praises little things like that the mounts do not disappear when you dismount, or the lobbies with 100 players, of which you can interact with 16.
