The MMO New World is currently in beta and is very popular on Steam, but also on Twitch. One of the biggest streamers is Asmongold, who, however, is using his smaller Twitch account zackrawrr in New World. Nevertheless, he is constantly bothered by stream snipers in the game.
What’s going on?
- New World was able to excite many players with the start of the beta. On the first day alone, over 190,000 players logged in simultaneously on Steam. On July 21, there were still impressive 188,000.
- New World also celebrated great success on Twitch and was, at one point, the most popular game on the streaming platform with over 720,000 viewers.
- One of the most successful streamers is Asmongold, who, with his second account zackrawrr, has at least 200,000 watched hours in the last 3 days (via Sullygnome). Additionally, there are some hours at release that he spent on the main account Asmongold.
However, the success surrounding New World has its downsides. Other players constantly follow Asmongold in the new MMO. It has gotten to the point where he loudly complained about them in his stream.
Streamer wants his peace, but doesn’t get it
What did Asmongold say about the stream snipers? In a clip from his livestream on July 21, you can hear the streamer get annoyed with the players who constantly follow him:
Please stop following me like crazy. Stop, really. Just leave me the hell alone.
Later, he tried to appeal to the sense of one of the players:
I hope he stops. I just want to be left alone and have fun in my game, not have people chasing me for attention. Who would want that? Think about it from my perspective. What do you think I feel about it?
We have embedded the corresponding clip here for you, but it seems to have been blocked for some users. There is an error message about “premium content” that is not available in the region. This message has been appearing repeatedly in recent months and even German streamers are affected (via Twitter).
Stream snipers are a problem, especially in PvP games
Why is Asmongold so bothered by the players? Stream snipers can cause several problems in New World:
- Players can steal quest mobs or XP from him by killing the mobs themselves instead of leaving them for Asmongold.
- Moreover, New World allows PvP to be activated, which makes it difficult to fight against players from other factions when there is such a huge number of players who either like or want to kill Asmongold.
- Lastly, many players in one location also negatively affect the game’s performance, which is detrimental to the streamer.
It’s also not the first time that Asmongold has been harassed by stream snipers. Just earlier in July, we reported that Final Fantasy XIV players are making life difficult for the streamer.
The new MMO New World invites players to stream it on Twitch. It encourages communities to collaborate to maintain dominance in the game, develop settlements, and fight in battles for strongholds. Additionally, there is an in-game voice chat that has already led to some bizarre situations:
