Twitch streamer Asmongold reacted to a video that criticized Genshin Impact. He stated that the RPG by HoYoverse is now dying and also explained why he thinks so.
Asmongold watched the YouTube video by stioorg titled “Why are players losing hope in Genshin Impact?”, which highlights the current problems the game is facing.
Right at the beginning of his video, Asmongold stated: “I believe that Genshin Impact is actually dying now,” because in his opinion, Gacha games have an “expiration date.”

Lack of endgame content
stioorg criticized in his video, among other things, the lack of endgame in Genshin Impact. While players take several months to level up their characters to fully master the Spiral Abyss, once this challenge is mastered, it quickly becomes uninteresting.
When the lack of endgame in Genshin Impact was mentioned, Asmongold suggested Tower of Fantasy as an alternative. There is an endgame content mode called “Bygone Fantasm” that scales infinitely.
However, the streamer admitted: “Personally, I find it more fulfilling to tackle simple content in a speedrun than to hit a wall with infinitely scaling content.”
Not the right quality-of-life changes
Another point is the lack of quality-of-life changes. While stioorg admits that some new features have been implemented in the newer patches to facilitate gameplay, he believes that these are not points that the community really wanted.
Asmongold commented that this is a strategy of multiple games to withhold such changes to make spending money more attractive.
The streamer even went so far as to speculate that all players of HoYoverse games are part of an experiment: “This is a massive psychological point for them to understand how much they can exploit players.”
He believes that Genshin Impact players are treated poorly, while those in Honkai: Star Rail are great, only for the upcoming Zenless Zone Zero to learn how the developers can earn as much money as possible.

Too predictable
stioorg also mentioned that it has become too predictable what new content is coming to Genshin Impact. While Honkai: Star Rail could still surprise with upcoming, unpredictable novelties, in Genshin Impact, one already knows too well in advance what to expect from updates.
Asmongold stated that the predictability is also a major problem in WoW with the new expansions. The games are acting too much by a fixed formula that is too obvious.
What is Asmongold’s conclusion? The Twitch streamer agreed with the points made in the video, stating he would feel the same if he played Genshin Impact, but also mentioned that the game is not made for people like him.
In his opinion, that is also the problem: “Genshin is made for kids who don’t have money.” Because of this, the game is not designed to implement heavy endgame content. It is intended for casual players and is “for 12-year-old girls.”
Regarding his thesis that Gacha games have an expiration date, he also explained that there are simply too many different characters now, so that as a new player, you could no longer catch up. Moreover, he believes you inevitably reach a point where new characters would look similar to those that already exist.
