MMORPGs from Asia often have the reputation of draining players’ wallets. The developers of Astellia aim to do many things differently. In a FAQ, they answered questions about the shop and Pay2Win.
Will Astellia be Free2Play? In Asia, Astellia can be played for free. However, in return, many things must be purchased with real money in the shop. The game is doing very well in Korea, but there will still be major adjustments for the West.
Here, the MMORPG is Buy2Play. You pay a one-time fee of around €30, and then you can experience everything without being forced to spend money. The shop mainly offers cosmetic items or content that can also be earned through gameplay.
What is the most significant difference compared to Asia? In the Asian version of Astellia, costumes are sold in the shop. These come with attributes, allowing players to directly purchase useful equipment with real money. This is direct Pay2Win.
The western version will also have these costumes. However, these will be sold without attributes and only for cosmetic purposes.
Much from the shop can be earned
This is how Astellia differs in the West: The developers of Astellia have also committed to ensuring that many contents available only in the shop in Asia can be earned in our version.
This includes the Astel Card Packs, which can currently only be purchased in the shop. In the West, these will be available through in-game tasks.
How does one get Dungeon Tickets? Another example of earnable content is the Dungeon Tickets. Every player receives a ticket every 30 minutes. It does not matter whether they are online or offline.
A player can possess a maximum of 20 Dungeon Tickets. Entry to endgame dungeons will cost 4-5 tickets. There will also be repeatable quests through which additional tickets can be earned.
The developers are currently even considering introducing raids for 12 players only for the West.
Optional and earnable subscription: In Astellia, there is the bonus “Nordens Gunst”. This is content that brings various benefits.
With an active favor, you can carry 24 Dungeon Tickets and receive them faster. It also provides a leveling advantage for the Astels that support you in battle.
Nordens Gunst can be purchased in the shop but can also be earned. It is expected to be available through regular login rewards.
First Closed Beta is coming
When does the first Closed Beta start? The first beta phase in the West starts on June 25. It will last about a week.
Pre-order packages allow you guaranteed access to the beta, but keys are also expected to be raffled off through various platforms and social media accounts.
How are pre-order bonuses handled? Some pre-order packages allow for a head start of up to 7 days. The developers explain this by stating that they don’t want to unleash all players on the servers on the first day.
However, to ensure that other players do not level up and gear up in the meantime, certain content like the PvP scenario Avalon or the legendary dungeons will only be released some time after launch. This way, equality of opportunity for all is intended.
When will Astellia be released? So far, there is no exact release date for the MMORPG. According to recent statements, it should be released in late summer.
