The MMORPG Ashes of Creation has intensively introduced the Cleric in a blog post. The idea of the class and initial skills were presented. More classes are to follow in the coming weeks.
What defines the Cleric? The Cleric is one of the 8 core classes that Ashes of Creation offers. However, due to a dual-class system, up to 64 class combinations are possible.
The Cleric can protect, enhance, and heal allies in various ways. At the same time, he has some skills with which he can deal holy damage to enemies and weaken them by reducing the outgoing damage of the enemy, for example.
What role does the Cleric take on? The first introduced class will take on the important role of a healer in Ashes of Creation. After all, the MMORPG focuses on group content such as mass battles in PvP or fights against gigantic bosses or in dungeons.
In this context, particularly the combinations Cleric + Cleric (High Priest) and Cleric + Bard (Scryer) are likely to come into play. The Bard is the second class that leans towards support and healing.

Healing and a lot of holy damage
What can the Cleric do? The blog post presented the first 9 skills of the healer class. These are all skills that can be unlocked with levels 1 to 10 and used in the upcoming alpha:
- Castigation – Enemies are whipped with holy energy and take damage. You and allies in the vicinity receive health and mana.
- Judgment – Swings a divine hammer at the target, causing damage and reducing their damage mitigation.
- Hallowed Ground – An AoE effect with holy energy that deals damage to enemies and heals allies.
- Exorcism – Channels damage over time. At the end of the channeling, there is an energy burst that deals damage to enemies in the vicinity.
- Damnation – Curses the target. Deals damage over time and reduces the damage dealt by the enemy. If the power of the skill increases, the target becomes immobilized and the effect extends to enemies in the vicinity.
- Devotion – Heals allies, continues to heal them over time, and creates a field around them that also heals allies.
- Divine Censure – Creates a holy spear that pierces your enemy. Whenever someone attacks this enemy, they have a chance to be healed.
- Benediction – Creates a chain of heals between allies.
- Resurrection – Brings a dead ally back to life.

One of the most promising MMORPGs in development
What makes Ashes of Creation so interesting? The new MMORPG from Intrepid Studios focuses on social interactions and group play. This is also evident in the highlight of the game: the Node system.
The open world is divided into different zones. These zones can be conquered and then leveled up. A zone starts as a small tent city and can develop into a huge metropolis. The environment levels up as well. Where there was initially just a small cave, a huge dungeon can emerge over time. In general, PvE plays an important role in leveling up the nodes.
The cities, in turn, elect a mayor, build various buildings, collect taxes, and offer housing. This is also intended to promote interaction between players.
However, the cities can also be attacked and destroyed. Massive sieges are planned for this purpose.
The most promising western MMORPG? Currently, there are some promising MMORPGs in development, but most of them come from Korea. Ashes of Creation is one of the few western MMORPGs that players are eagerly awaiting.
However, players do not have to wait too long for gameplay in livestreams. Alpha 1 starts in spring 2021. With this alpha, the NDA for testers is lifted, and players can showcase their progress to the whole world.
