The Intrepid Studios talked about housing in the MMORPG Ashes of Creation during a livestream. It offers some special features.
How do you get a house? Each settlement offers plots depending on its size and level of development. You can claim these and build a house there as long as you have the necessary money.
If the settlement continues to grow, for example into a village, town, or metropolis, more building plots for houses will be added. Additionally, it is possible to expand already built houses depending on the status of the settlement.
In a city, there are larger and more luxurious buildings than in a small village.
How Housing Works in Ashes of Creation
What features does the housing of the MMORPG offer? In the exciting MMORPG Ashes of Creation, your own houses offer these features:
- Storage: You must build containers and place them for item storage. Different levels of storage offer varying storage capacity.
- Furnishing: The houses offer you a different number of placeable decorative items that you can set up in the house.
- Sell: You can also sell a house, but not the plot.
- Gathering: Each house offers you different possibilities for gatherings. So you cannot use every house for large guild meetings, for example.
- Destructible: Some houses can be destroyed during sieges.
- Size: There are houses of different sizes that offer more space for storage and decoration as well as for gatherings, depending on the size of the settlement. From a small house in a village to a large villa in a metropolis.
What do houses cost in Ashes of Creation? There will be an initially set price. This depends on how many citizens live in the settlement. The more citizens there are, the higher the price. If you want to sell houses, you set the price yourself.
What happens if a house is destroyed during a siege? Only the house will be destroyed, but you will keep your decorations and the items you stored in it. The house can be rebuilt.
Do players have to upgrade their house as the settlement grows? No. You can, of course, switch to a larger building. However, it is possible to keep your old one.
What happens if two players争 for a house? In that case, an auction can start, where the highest bidder wins.
Only one player can own a house. Others can participate in financing if they are okay with only one being the owner. The other players are invited and allowed to do certain things in the house, such as placing decorative items, taking items from storage, and so on. Permissions will be granted for everything.
MeinMMO author Andreas Bertits thinks about housing: Ashes of Creation seems to be getting a very well thought out and interesting housing system. The fact that houses can grow with the settlement is fascinating and somewhat reminiscent of building games.
It also makes sense that houses can be destroyed during sieges. However, if this happens too often, it might be frustrating to have to rebuild the building repeatedly. We should wait and see how this works.
Anyone who is into housing in MMORPGs will apparently get a very robust system in Ashes of Creation, which does not take center stage in the player experience but still offers good features to make use of the system.
