The developers of the MMORPG Ashes of Creation have nearly incredible plans for their game world.
Those who play Ashes of Creation – when it presumably releases next year – should simply be thrilled by the game world, able to immerse themselves in it and get lost within. This goes beyond the graphics, which, according to a new trailer, already look fantastic. The world is meant to be alive and to change not only through your actions but also on its own.
Seasons with actual effects on the game world
For example, through seasons. In winter, it snows; in summer, the sun shines; in spring or autumn, it often rains. So far, this doesn’t sound especially spectacular. However, a particularly severe snowstorm can make an important mountain pass inaccessible. The snowdrifts block the path, and you will have to find a new trade route for the winter, which might lead very close to enemy territory. Or an area could be flooded due to heavy rainfall.
What if a summer is particularly long and dry, negatively affecting the harvest? These and many other situations are what the developers want to create. All of this will also impact you and the NPCs as well as creatures within the world. In autumn, certain monsters might retreat and make room for others. A new boss emerges. A new generation of NPC traders grows up because they discovered a more effective trade route due to the weather.
A world that feels very realistic
The developers want to create gaming situations that players remember fondly because they were so memorable and extraordinary. Additionally, the seasons should feel really different. Those who have to walk through a snowstorm should be able to nearly feel the cold. Or one can see how the heat of a particularly warm summer affects the vegetation. Colors, effects, and music also play significant roles in this. All of this together is meant to make the game world of the MMORPG Ashes of Creation particularly immersive.
