In recent months, there has been very little news about the MMORPG Ashes of Creation. There has also been little news about the PvP mode Apocalypse presented in December. However, there has been a developer update announcing the return of the Battle Royale.
When is Apocalypse coming back? In a new Director’s Letter, the head of Intrepid Studios, Steven Sharif, addresses the players of Ashes of Creation.
In this letter, he reports on the progress of the MMORPG Ashes of Creation and the Battle Royale Standalone Apocalypse.
The latter is set to enter another test phase on August 20th around 8:00 PM our time. This is the first test since January of this year.
What is Apocalypse? Apocalypse is a standalone PvP game for the MMORPG Ashes of Creation. It was released in December 2018 and was meant to test the combat system and stress the servers.
Originally, the Battle Royale was developed as part of the Alpha for Ashes of Creation. However, the developers later decided to release the game as a Free2Play version independently.
Why did Apocalypse go offline again? The Battle Royale was not online for long after its release. The launch of Apocalypse was delayed by more than 24 hours, and further crashes and major performance issues followed.
After nearly a week the developers of Intrepid Studios took Apocalypse offline. Besides the performance issues, players also criticized the movement controls and the already implemented microtransactions.
Intensive preparations for the MMORPG’s Alpha
What’s new about the MMORPG? Steven Sharif, who is funding the game with his millions, also reports in his letter to the community about the latest developments regarding the Alpha of the MMORPG.
The Alpha was initially set to start in March, but has been postponed indefinitely. In the letter, Sharif discusses the caravan system.
Caravans facilitate trade between nodes and are, according to the developers, an important feature where risk vs. reward and player cooperation are at the forefront.

When will the MMORPG Ashes of Creation be released? There is no release date for Ashes of Creation. However, it is certain that it will not be released in 2019.
