Ashes of Creation is an ambitious MMORPG in development that is now significantly behind its original plans. At least, there is now a release date for the PvP standalone Apocalypse.
What is Ashes of Creation Apocalypse? Apocalypse was originally a part of the alpha designed to extensively test the combat system of the MMORPG.
For this, a Battle Royale was created where players were supposed to duke it out. However, in December 2018, it was decided to make the mode publicly accessible.
The release, however, went wrong, resulting in server crashes, criticism of the movement system, and microtransactions. Our author Alexander Leitsch found the game mode good, but also had some concerns.
The developers decided in January 2019 to postpone the release of Apocalypse. In August, there were further tests, and now it should finally get going.
Apocalypse will finally be permanently playable
When does Apocalypse come out? As announced in a press release, Apocalypse will launch on Tuesday, September 24, in Early Access.
It starts at 21:00 German time, and the Battle Royale can be played solo, in pairs, or as a full squad. Servers will be available in America, Europe, and Singapore.
How can I play Apocalypse? To participate in Apocalypse, you need to create an account on the official website. You can also download the client on the website or alternatively on Steam. Apocalypse will also be available on Steam.
Creating the account and playing Ashes of Creation Apocalypse is completely free. Only the MMORPG will require a monthly fee later on.
What’s next for Apocalypse? The PvP standalone is expected to continue to be developed over time. In addition to the Battle Royale, two more modes are planned:
- Siege mode to test fortress fights
- A horde mode where players fight against waves of enemies.
When the expansions for Apocalypse will come exactly is currently unknown. The same goes for the start of Alpha 1 for the MMORPG, which was originally scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2019.
