Even Hearthstone pros can’t get used to the new cards immediately. It’s especially funny when this happens during a livestream.
With the expansion Knights of the Frozen Throne, Hearthstone has received over 135 new cards. It can take a while for players to get accustomed to all the new combinations and remember the effects of the cards.
But small and big mistakes happen not only to us normal mortals; even Hearthstone pros can be tricked from time to time.
This happened to Johnnie Lee, better known as “Ratsmah” – one of the best arena players that America has to offer.
During his stream, he had a solid game and a nearly certain victory on the board – at least he thought so.
Ratsmah had two Bittertide Hydras on the board – powerful minions with stats of 8/8 that only cost 5 mana. However, they have a downside – every time they take damage, they deal 3 damage to their own hero. But what could a warlock do?
Well – Deny. That was the card Ratsmah clearly didn’t have in mind. It deals 1 damage to each minion and is cast again when a minion dies. The spell triggers a total of 4 times, turning the “sure victory” into a bitter defeat.
Especially funny: The opponent plays a Flamewaker, which deals 3 damage to his own hero, which Ratsmah comments with an arrogant “Yes, hit yourself in the face, that will teach me”.
A clear case of “Instant Karma”, as casting Deny will clearly serve as a lesson for him.
Have you also had trouble with the new cards and forgotten effects that could lead to your downfall?
