At Armored Warfare, they are generous at Christmas, discreetly asking for a little support while also dissing the competition of World of Tanks.
At Christmas, Armored Warfare gives every player a Type 59 tank and celebrates it joyfully. One could also say: Armored Warfare goes all out.
Following the motto “In competitive games, you have to do so much for a piece, but we want such legendary tanks to be played, so we gift one to everyone who logs in from December 18 to January 3.”
It is kindly stated: “The old generation of tank games” … clearly pointed at whom it targets: World of Tanks.
Why can such tanks be given away in Armored Warfare while they can’t in other games? Well, the Type 59 tank is historically rooted in the 1950s. Other military MMOs focus on World War II. Therefore, the Type 59 tank is “at the end of the food chain,” a killer endgame machine.
In Armored Warfare, you start only at the end of World War II; the Type 59 tank is a premium tier 3 model – in the category of “advanced beginner.” However, it comes with a rank 5 crew, which is the highest level. But of course: It can be given away.
Patch 0.12 turns every tank into a “Premium” tank … for an extra fee
Last week, an update 0.12 was released. The most important change: For an extra fee of gold (the real money currency), players can turn any “normal” tank of tier 3 or higher into a “combat-experienced tank,” which then grants more credit points, reputation, and the crew also gets more exp per match. Normally, such bonuses are reserved for real money tanks.

This is certainly interesting for Armored Warfare, as resources to unlock new tanks do come over time, but credits, the money for new tanks, are often scarce.
Additionally, 3 new PvE missions (Hydra, Sapphire, and Starry Night) have been introduced, and the spawning behavior of the previous ones has been slightly modified. Previously, PvE missions were sometimes a bit like “Memory,” a criticism from our review, now there is chaos: Why isn’t there a tank coming? One always used to come. What 0.12 brought otherwise, you can read here in the patch notes for Armored Warfare.
