The community of the dino hit ARK: Survival Evolved is very active and regularly new content is created. We present you the 5 best mods that you should definitely check out in 2020.
The mod community in ARK is one of the most active in the survival genre. You can already download over 6,600 mods in the Steam Workshop. Today we show you 5 mods that are super useful in 2020.
1. Structures Plus
The Structures Plus mod is one of the most popular mods in ARK with over 2.5 million subscribers. It adds numerous items to the game that are not only useful but also perfect for building.
Highlights of this mod include:
- No height limit when building
- Storage boxes with a lot of space
- Automatically opening doors
- Loud structures like the fabricator are quieter
- NPC structures that automate various processes like feeding dino babies
- Over 50 unique new items
- Existing structures are reworked
That’s why the mod is so good: If you like to build a lot, you can’t go past this mod. With the new items and reworked structures, it offers a variety of building options and enhances the overall gaming experience when creating houses.

2. Death Helper and Pet Finder
Death Helper and Pet Finder are two different mods from the same creator. Together, they have around 1.9 million subscribers and do exactly what the names suggest.
Highlights of these mods include:
- Your corpse is clearly marked
- The position of your dinos is clearly marked
- You receive a suicide potion in case you get stuck
That’s why the mod is so good: Anyone who has ever died in ARK or lost a dino in the dense forests will love these mods. Even though there is a marker for your own corpse in the game itself, the markers of the Death Helper mod are much more noticeable. And the Pet Finder is worth its weight in gold, as there is no official solution for finding lost dinos. Not to mention the GPS marker, which you can only unlock in the late game.

3. Ultra Stacks
Ultra Stacks also does what the name says. All items are stacked in very large quantities. From 200 stacks of wood or stone, this mod goes up to 10,000. The mod has nearly 1.2 million subscribers so far.
Highlights of this mod include:
- Stacks items in extreme quantities
- Reduces weight
- Extends durability
That’s why the mod is so good: If you like to gather resources and are constantly loaded with items, then this mod is just right for you. It stacks all items neatly into large piles and reduces the weight at the same time. So it not only gets clearer, but you can also carry more and thus increase your efficiency.

4. Upgrade Station
Upgrade Stations adds a new station for crafting that allows you to manually upgrade any armor and items. You can develop your standard items into Ascended items. Over 900,000 subscribers are playing the mod.
Highlights of this mod include:
- Improves all items
- Mod items are also compatible
That’s why the mod is so good: Until now, items could only be found randomly in airdrops or after boss fights with a higher quality. Usually as blueprints for personal crafting. But with this mod, you can bring any item to the highest quality level, provided you have the right resources.

5. MarniiMods: Wildlife
MarniiMods: Wildlife simply adds more animals to ARK: Survival Evolved that come from the current era. With under 25,000 subscribers, the mod is not one of the best of all time, but it is very popular in 2020.
Highlights of this mod include:
- Lions
- Cows
- Snow leopards
- Chickens
- Exotic birds
- Cats
- Rabbits
- Geckos
- Owls
- Pumas
- Compatible with all maps
That’s why the mod is so good: If you are tired of only keeping dinos or other strange creatures, this mod will make you happy. Real animals bring fresh air into the dino daily life, and especially cat lovers shouldn’t complain.

Bonus: Dead Survival Alpha
Dead Survival Alpha has just over 4,800 subscribers, but it completely changes the gameplay in ARK. This is not a full conversion mod that would fundamentally change the game.
The mod simply adds zombies. You cannot tame them; they are hostile and hunt you in packs. You should turn off the spawning of dinos on your server for the best experience.
Highlights of this mod include:
- Zombies populate the map
- They are attracted by noise
- Zombie attacks cause a plague that can only be eliminated by a specific remedy
- They can destroy and damage structures
- Every night a zombie horde can spawn near a player
- Every 10 minutes, a plane drops a supply crate
The mod is regularly updated and constantly receives new features and content. So far, there are already 3 different zombie types and 3 more are planned. If you like zombies, check out the mod.
That’s why the mod is so good: The mod changes the experience you normally have with ARK and offers a good alternative to the dinos. Without pets, survival becomes significantly harder, and especially the nights are terrifying. If you like 7Days2Die, you will also enjoy this mod.
