Griffin
The Griffin belongs to the fantasy creatures in ARK and is a carnivore. This flying mount originates from European legends and has the body of a lion and the head of an eagle. They are aggressive and pursue players over long distances.

Taming the Griffin
The Griffin is a very aggressive creature and attacks as soon as you come into its line of sight. They usually travel solo or in pairs and can be easily distracted. It is not recommended to take too many flying creatures with you.
Here’s how to knock out the Griffin: Since the Griffin has an incredibly large turning radius, you can often just stand around and shoot tranquilizer arrows at it. It will circle around you and won’t be able to attack until it lands. Bring enough tranquilizer arrows or darts, as the Griffin’s torpor limit is very high.
This food is most effective for taming the Griffin: The Griffin prefers extraordinary Kibble. As a carnivore, it also enjoys raw mutton and raw prime meat. The Griffins eat regular meat as well.
Extraordinary Kibble Recipe:
- 1 x Special Egg
- 1x Honey from a giant bee
- 1x Lazarus Soup
- 10 x Mejoberries
- 5 x Fiber
- 1 x Water
On an official server, you need about 22 to 60 minutes for a level 1 Griffin. At level 150, taming can take between 2.5 and 8 hours.
How to Craft the Saddle
To fly the successfully tamed Griffin, you do not need a saddle.
Utility of the Griffin
The Griffin is excellent as a Wyvern egg thief due to its high speed. A second player can also sit on the Griffin and attack from the air or collect items while flying by. The Griffin can also fight on the ground and in the air, making it an all-round fighter. However, it is not as strong as other flying creatures.
The Griffin also possesses a dive attack that can deal triple damage when it crashes to the ground. If you pull its snout up quickly enough, you can deal up to 15 times the damage to a flying creature thanks to the speed gained.
