At Twitch Con 2017, Studio Wildcard announced that the Aberration expansion for ARK Survival Evolved (PC, PS4, Xbox One) has been postponed. The release was initially scheduled for October 2017.
Studio Wildcard is already known among its fans for the fact that the developers rarely meet promised dates. Patches or expansions like Ragnarok often come later than announced and are postponed multiple times.
The horror expansion Aberration is no exception: The release date was postponed at Twitch Con 2017. Aberration was supposed to be released this October. However, Wildcard never provided a specific release date, even when players asked several times.

Aberration gameplay offers a few new mechanics for ARK Survival Evolved
Gameplay from Aberration was also shown at Twitch Con.
Aberration is an abandoned and broken ARK that is situated in a dark cave system. Here, players encounter completely new challenges and also previously unknown flora and fauna.
For example, there are creatures that have adapted to darkness and the underground. Nameless, humanoid beings that despise light and have developed into dangerous monsters.
Survivors must also adapt to the new environment and develop different strategies:
- In the underground system, there are no flying creatures, but glider suits. There will also be creatures that glide through the caves and can be ridden.
- Due to the steep cave walls, survivors must have climbing gear ready. This includes grappling hooks, which allow players to move along the walls like Spiderman. This also includes zip lining, which allows crossing longer distances.
- There are new environmental hazards like radiation and elements that can also trigger mutations.
