ARK: Survival Evolved has received an update for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One, which brings the consoles up to the same level as the PC. The patch is called 1.06 for the PS4.
With the latest update, ARK brings the consoles up to the same version level as on the PC. The patch now includes mysterious Underwater Worlds and new prehistoric creatures:
- Cnidaria Omnimorph
- Troodon Magnanimus
- Pegomastax Fructarator
- Tusoteuthis Vampyrus
- Therizinosaurus Multiensis
PS4 players will also receive “Procedurally Generated Maps” with the update, which generate random maps in the game. This feature was already available on Xbox One and PC. Additionally, performance improvements have been made through more efficient memory usage.
The Issue with Version Numbers in Ark
Version numbers are a complicated matter in Ark. This is because all three versions have different version numbers:
- Currently, the PC version is v253.98
- On the PS4, it is v503.0
- On the Xbox One, it is v749.0
On the PS4, today’s update is labeled 1.06 for most players. This is because Ark and Sony count updates differently, which can lead to confusion.
The principal plan from Studio Wildcard resembles that of The Elder Scrolls Online: The PC is patched two weeks ahead of the consoles. They will then follow with a delay and receive a patch that brings them up to the same level as the PC version.
Patch Plans for Ark in the Coming Weeks
The next patch for PC is scheduled for today, with another one expected on January 30. This will then also reach the consoles with a delay: the next update for PS4 and Xbox One is set for February 14.
- The update on January 19 is expected to bring Primitive+.
- The update on January 30 will introduce 5 new levels and a ton of new dinos and animals like the sheep. Additionally, there will be the possibility to give the avatar a beard and other hairstyles.
It’s a shame there is no modding for consoles, otherwise everyone could catch the Pokésaurians.
