Ark’s new update for PC – v257 – is packed with new content. The Tek technologies have been expanded and it is now possible to clone dinos. New creatures are entering the survival MMO and they come with some useful traits.
The Center has received a massive update, in which the ocean has been significantly expanded. The volcano in the Center was previously dormant. With the patch, the volcano has been transformed into a treacherous cave. Furthermore, the level cap has been lowered and the engram tree adjusted.

Ark: New dinos – Giant Bee, Daeodon, Liopleurodon, Kentrosaurus – here’s what they can do
Especially exciting are always the new dinos in Ark Survival Evolved. Here we have an overview of the new dinos and reveal what they can do.
Giant Bee: Tame the queen and farm honey
The Giant Bee is an aggressive and powerful bee that you can find in nests. The queen can be tamed and provides you with sweet honey that you can use on other creatures.
- If you find a nest in the wild, you must destroy it to reach the queen. This makes the bees angry and they will attack you.
- Approach the bees only with insect repellent or a ghillie suit – this wards off the bees.
- If you have tamed a queen, you can convert her into a new nest and farm honey.
- Honey is useful for: attracting creatures, calming Leedsichthys, and taming the Liopleurodon.
- Rare flowers enhance the nest
- Taming the Giant Queen Bee: The bee prefers Ichthyornis Kibble (1 Rare Flower, 1 Savoroot, 2 Mejoberries, 3 Fiber). Rare flowers also work.
Daeodon: The hell pig is highly aggressive – a real fighting machine
The Daeodon is a true fighting machine and highly aggressive. It is constantly searching for food and eats meat and plants.
- With a special aura, the Daeodon heals itself, making it useful in combat.
- This aura ensures that the Daeodon consumes food extremely quickly
- If survivors approach the hell pig, it will immediately attack.
- Taming the Daeodon: The Daeodon prefers Iguanodon Kibble (1 Rare Mushroom, 1 Cooked Prime Jerky, 2 Mejoberries, 3 Fiber).
Liopleurodon: More oxygen during dives – ideal for underwater loot
The Liopleurodon is considered a magical creature among survivors. This underwater creature produces a special oil with its skin, which provides riders with more oxygen.
- The Liopleurodon gives underwater loot boxes a buff, thereby providing survivors with better loot.
- Survivors do not need a saddle to ride the reptile
- Taming the Liopleurodon: The Liopleurodon can only be tamed for 30 minutes. It prefers the honey from the “Giant Bee”. After 30 minutes, the Liopleurodon will disappear.
Kentrosaurus: Impales enemies on its back
The Kentrosaurus is equipped with deadly spikes on its back. They pierce through the thickest skin and armor. This allows the Kentro to even fight and overpower larger creatures.
- The Kentrosaurus is tamable, but cannot be ridden due to its spikes.
- Smaller creatures and other players can be impaled by the Kentro.
- Taming the Kentrosaurus: The Kentrosaurus prefers Compy Kibble (Compy Egg, Citronal, Cooked Fish Meat, Mejoberry, Fiber). It also likes Savoroots and Mejoberries.
Ark’s “Clone Chamber”: New Tek technologies – cloning dinos is now possible
With the new update, Ark Survival Evolved has added new Tek technologies. These technologies represent the futuristic end stage. Among the new technologies, the new “Clone Chamber” is likely the most exciting. A Tek technology that allows survivors to clone creatures and create exact copies.
To copy creatures, you must use “Element Shards”. The Clone Chamber is crafted in a Tek Replicator and powered by the Tek Generator.
More Tek technologies from patch v257
In addition to the Clone Chamber, there are other exciting Tek technologies to discover:
- Tek Megalodon Saddle: Or also “Laser Sharks”. If you equip the Megalodon with the new Tek saddle, it can fire lasers. For this, it needs element in its inventory. You also need to learn the corresponding engram to be able to use the saddle. It is crafted in the Tek Replicator.
- Tek Turret: Uses “Element Shards” as ammunition and can be set with the following options: warning, max/min level of a creature, only/not this creature class
- Tek Grenade: This grenade sticks to the target and explodes after 5 seconds.
The volcano in the Center turns into a Tek Cave: Only the strongest survivors have a chance
The volcano is being converted into a cave that only the strongest survivors can enter. The volcano is supposed to become an absolute endgame challenge. Those who want to enter the volcano must first take on the three bosses: Dragon, Megapithecus, and Broodmother.
But it’s not enough to defeat the bosses just once. You have to defeat them on all levels and present the alpha, beta, and gamma trophies. So on the hard, medium, and easy levels. Additionally, you need all alpha items. Only then will the gates of the cave open for you.
The volcano can be mastered at different difficulty levels
Those who enter the volcano can determine the difficulty level of the Tek Cave based on their trophies. For example, if you bring the three gamma trophies of the bosses, the volcano will be set to “easy”. Up to 10 players and 50 creatures may enter the volcano simultaneously.

Engrams reset and level cap lowered
The level cap has been lowered in connection with a major overhaul of the “engram tree”. The maximum level was previously 105, the new max level is now 100. The engram points have been reset and must be redistributed. Regarding the full release, the level system should undergo a complete overhaul.
