The survival MMO Ark Survival Evolved (PC) is receiving Patch v256. For the first time, the menu will be completely redesigned. Additionally, there will be new dinos and Tek technologies.
Ark Survival Evolved is getting a new Update v256 for PC. The latest version is expected on Thursday (March 30).
Ark Update v256: First major redesign of the menu
Originally, the update was planned for tomorrow. However, today there was an update from Ark’s lead designer Jeremy Stieglitz via his Twitter account.
With Patch v256, Ark’s menu is being completely redesigned. The inventory is being revised both visually and functionally. This revision caused the delay of the new patch for PC.
Stieglitz also released a small teaser for the new menu. There will be new features such as “right-click context menus” and it aims to provide better clarity overall.
New dinos in Ark with Patch v256: Equus, Leedsichthys, Ichthyornis, Iguanodon
We can also expect new wild inhabitants in Ark. These creatures will be added to the survival MMO:
- Equus: A mix of a zebra and large horse. It serves the survivor as a mount and to carry loads.
- Leedsichthys: A gigantic fish that can swallow humans in one gulp. The carnivore is not intelligent enough to be tamed.
- Ichthyornis: Resembles a modern seagull. Once tamed, they become loyal companions to the survivor, preferring to sit on their shoulder. From time to time, they bring their owner fish.
- Iguanodon: A large herbivore. The spikes on its thumbs make it an excellent farmer. It collects seeds from fruits.
- Unicorn: An extremely rare mutation of the Equus.

The new update will expand the Tek technologies:
- New structure and mechanics: Tek underwater bases
- New structure: Tek teleporter
- New structure: Tek mosa saddle
- New structure: Tek power generator

When will the new ARK update for the inventory come to PS4, Xbox One?
It is currently unclear when the patch will be released on PS4 and Xbox One. It could take about two to three weeks. On PS4, the ARK patch would have version number 1.17 or 1.18 – depending on whether another patch is released by then.
