Dinos like in ARK Survival Evolved – without the harsh struggle for survival. The virtual ARK Park makes it possible. We present a first gameplay video.
The ARK Park is a virtual journey through a prehistoric park, where you step into the footprints of dinosaurs. The studios Wildcard and Snail Games have released a first gameplay video that looks promising and makes you excited for more.
Chill with the dinos and enjoy the view
The vision of the ARK Park is to create a virtual world that players can explore at their own pace while being close to the dinosaurs. Producer Sky Wu explained this. Unlike ARK Survival Evolved, all dinos roam peacefully in the park, giving one the chance to observe them up close.
The virtual experience is of a calm nature. A fast-paced gameplay, as required for survival combat in ARK Survival Evolved, has not yet been well implemented in VR. Therefore, the ARK Park will be a relaxed fun experience: Here you simply hang out with the dinos, ride and feed them, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Create a petting zoo with genetics cubes
You will be able to enter the ARK Park alone or with a group of friends and family. Both single-player and multiplayer will be integrated. You can participate in excursions to special attractions, prehistoric creatures, and plants in the park. One of the main gameplay components will be collecting genetics cubes of dinosaurs and transforming them into your own petting zoo at the center.
The hunting area brings action to the park
Those who crave more action can venture into the park’s hunting area, where there are light survival elements. Here, the dinosaurs are not as friendly as in the rest of the park and will attack you. To survive these attacks, you will have to craft weapons from certain resources and genetics cubes.
The more you collect, the more cubes and crafting options you will have available. Collecting the cubes will be a kind of puzzle game, where you have to manipulate your environment. This might look like stirring up an ant nest to attract a large spider.
You can visit the ARK Park with the PlayStation 4, PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift.
Leya thinks: At first, I was a little skeptical about this project and wasn’t sure if the ARK Park could be implemented as the two studios plan. However, the gameplay video gives me hope that it could indeed be a pretty cool VR experience. So far, I quite like the planned elements. I love petting zoos, dinos, and puzzles. I have since shifted from skepticism to joyful anticipation. I really hope that the ARK Park becomes what it currently promises.
