How does the graphics of ARK on the Xbox One compare to the PC version? A video provides insight into this …
No great surprise
ARK: Survival Evolved has recently become available on Xbox One as part of the Game Preview program. However, the game already celebrated its Early Access launch on PC more than half a year earlier, where it skyrocketed with amazing sales figures and became the unexpected hit of summer 2015.
But how do the two versions compare graphically side by side? Does the Xbox One version come close to the PC, or does it even surpass it? Candyland released a video on YouTube that places the two games “side by side,” making the graphical differences immediately noticeable.
For the video, the “Epic” detail setting was used on the PC, and the test build included a PC with 2 980 GTX graphics cards from Nvidia, 8 GB of RAM, and an Intel Core i7 6700K 4.00 GHz processor. The frame rates dropped below 30 FPS at times, and Candyland believes this could be due to the “too small” amount of RAM.
In summary, it can be said at first glance that ARK: Survival Evolved looks significantly better on a suitably powerful PC. On the console, not only is the draw distance noticeably more blurred, but the textures are also muddier – in some cases, objects and details are even missing completely.
The big question is whether this can really diminish the gaming enjoyment, as these details will likely only be noticeable when both games are compared side by side – which most gamers do rather infrequently.
In any case, this probably ignites new fire for PC owners who can once again mock the “Console Peasants.”
