The popular ARK: Survival Evolved on Steam and consoles will end in 2021 with the last DLC ‘Ark Genesis Part 2.’ However, the development of the final expansion is taking longer than expected. The new release date is May 26, 2021, for Steam, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One/Series X, and Stadia.
This is how the release date has changed:
- ARK Genesis Part 2 was initially supposed to be released in 2020
- However, in July 2020, Studio Wildcard announced: The new ‘fixed release date’ would be March 2021
- That didn’t happen either: The new ‘even firmer and final release date’ is May 26, 2021, for PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Stadia
Players deserve an “epic finale” and “something really special”
Why the second delay? The team says it’s due to the pandemic. Since the beginning of 2020, all dino developers have been working from home, and the transition to virtual working has proved challenging.
Furthermore, they want to put a lot of effort into Genesis Part 2 because it represents the last DLC of ARK. It’s a labor of love: They want to deliver something “truly special”. The players deserve an epic finale. And they are confident that the expansion will deliver just that.
What does the expansion bring? The DLC ‘Genesis’ is the finale of ARK Survival Evolved. Part 1 was released back in February 2020 – it too was delayed by several months.
Now with Part 2, the entire map will be ‘open and explorable’. New items and creatures are expected to expand the gameplay of ARK and increase comfort for all players. Additionally, Studio Wildcard promises a significant change in the meta.
