In ARK Survival Evolved (PS4, Xbox One, PC), the Aberration expansion now has a final release date. The trouble with the turrets is causing the developers at Studio Wildcard to rethink once again.
ARK has officially been available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC for several months now. However, this is far from the end of development. Two DLCs have been announced, the first is called “Aberration” and has a strong “horror” theme. It goes in the direction of body horror.
Horror was also the fuss surrounding the release date of the expansion. Originally, Aberration was supposed to come in October, then it was “November”, and now there is a final release date: On December 12, 2017, it will be here.
Studio Wildcard promises: An Ark experience like you have never seen before.
Community was worried about their bases when turrets were restricted
There is also a change in the turrets. The ARK community has been on edge about this for weeks.
The problem: Players like to place these turrets in large numbers to protect certain areas, usually to safeguard their bases. This protection is sacred to players. However, the many turrets are overwhelming some servers. Therefore, ARK originally wanted to introduce a restriction relatively soon: only a certain number of turrets would then be allowed in one area.
At the same time, ARK intended to strengthen the turrets and later introduce “heavy variants.” These new turrets were supposed to be 4 times stronger than the current ones, but that was still a long way off. The hard limits for the weaker turrets were supposed to come on December 5.
The fear: My base is insecure, and some ruffians are going to destroy it while I’m offline.

The community was so upset about this that Studio Wildcard is now budging:
- On November 27, Studio Wildcard plans to bring the new “Heavy Turret” in a patch for PC.
- Players on PS4 and Xbox One can expect the Heavy Turrets on December 12, at the release of Aberration.
The limits for auto-turrets will be rather “soft”, but players should be encouraged to stay within the limits. In the new Aberration area, the turret limit will already be considered “hard” from the start.
Better to have strong turrets and fewer of them, than many weak auto-turrets in ARK
The idea seems to be that instead of many weak turrets, players prefer to build fewer but stronger ones. To ensure this, players will not be able to place “Heavy Turrets” as long as they are above the turret limit.
This whole turret transition will be observed and accompanied in ARK. With the appropriate changes, they aim to ensure that this transition takes place.
