An honorable duel in ARK with lance and shield? That might soon become a reality.
In the dino game ARK: Survival Evolved, there are already plenty of fun interaction possibilities. Building a house completely out of flesh? No problem. A huge base on a moving dino? All possible. But one feature is missing for some fans – especially because it was visible on one of the original artworks: Mounted combat. While riders on multi-seat mounts can use weapons, the rider cannot participate in that.
Now Jeremy Stieglitz, one of the founding members of Studio Wildcard, announced on Twitter that riders will soon be able to use weapons as well. Which mounts will be affected remains to be seen – Raptors are definitely included.
What kind of weapons will be available is still unclear. If we go by the artwork, we can definitely expect lances and pikes – but it’s also possible that only the already existing weapons are now usable. More details will probably be known once the patch v248 goes live.
