Relatively inconspicuous, Crytek announced its new online action game Arena of Fate. The focus of the online multiplayer title is on exciting 5 vs 5 battles, where each player can individually assemble a team of historical celebrities and extraordinary fairy tale characters.
So far, the following five characters have been introduced: Fenrir, Robin Hood, Jeanne d’Arc, and Little Red Riding Hood. But also Frankenstein, Jack the Ripper, or Baron Munchausen have been mentioned. The appearance is not only modeled on the original figures, but also their personalities. While Munchausen flies around on his cannonball, Jack will be very skilled with the knife!
We expect more information from this year’s E3 in Los Angeles, as Arena of Fate will be playable for the first time there. So far, it is known that Arena of Fate is set to be released for PC and console. The expectations are naturally high, as Crytek has set ambitious goals:
We want to offer a game that is both accessible and features deep, action-packed gameplay.
You can get an idea of what this will look like in the first trailer. There, Fenrir and Little Red Riding Hood run towards each other with rattling sabers against a picturesque backdrop:
If you want to be among the first to test Arena of Fate this summer, it’s best to register directly for the beta!

And because it’s so nice, here’s another quote from the official homepage:
