If you buy a graphics card, you often install a graphics card driver. Do you also update your graphics card or do you never do that?
If you buy new hardware like a graphics card, you usually also install the corresponding software suite for your GPU. All major graphics card manufacturers, such as AMD, Intel, and Nvidia, provide software packages for their graphics cards that you can install.
You can find graphics card drivers on every computer – But do you also update them?
What kind of software is that? When someone installs a graphics card or another device in their PC, the operating system first installs generic software. This software works with most devices. These standard drivers from Windows ensure that the devices are recognized under Windows.
You can then decide for yourself whether you want to download and install additional software from the appropriate manufacturer. If you have a Nvidia graphics card, you definitely need the Nvidia software. It is the same with AMD and Intel.
You also have the freedom to choose whether to update your graphics card software or simply continue using your old version. After all, no one can force you to use it – unless the manufacturer disables support.
