A leak reveals the free games for PlayStation Plus in August 2019. However, it may just be a glitch.
Which games were leaked? While browsing the PlayStation Store, a PS4 user found two games marked with the PS Plus tag that are not part of the current free PS Plus games from July 2019 .
The user documented their find with a screenshot and shared it with Glitched Africa (via Gamerant). We include the two images in the article here.
Among the best-selling PS4 games, the game EA Sports UFC3 is noted with the tag for free PS Plus games.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is also rumored to become free next month. At least, the PS Plus tag in the lower left corner of the game cover seems to indicate this.
Update 10:00 AM: It seems that the leak was a misunderstanding related to the presentation in the PS Store. As Gamepro reports, the leak is likely associated with the EA Access service. This is set to launch soon and will provide free games in the subscription. Apparently, these games were wrongly marked as “Free” in the store due to a glitch.
People assumed it was a PS Plus leak because the “Free” icon has only been used for PS Plus games so far. This is now causing confusion among users.
Where does the leak come from? The website Glitched Africa claims that these images were submitted by one of their readers.
How realistic is the leak? Such leaks should always be treated with caution and not taken as “guaranteed”. The photos could possibly be fakes. On the other hand, the markings on the games might have resulted from an error, assuming the photos are real.
That Star Wars Battlefront 2 would be included in the PS Plus offering currently makes sense. Because the new Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is set to release this November. EA may want to prepare their players for the new adventure with this offering.
In about two weeks, Sony will officially present the lineup for PlayStation Plus in August 2019. Only then will it be clear which games are definitely part of the lineup and which were merely a glitch with the free games for EA Access.
